The Veterans Wife

I'm just a Veterans Wife, I am nothing special. I'm not looking for Brownie Buttons, Metals Of Honor or Purple Heart. I'm just a wife who loved, honored and cherished a Veteran. The day I met my future husband was back on October 31, 1994. In November of that same year the next month we knew we were meant for each other and moved in together. Travis had been through 2 bad marriages and I had been through 3 myself. But we just knew there was something there, something clicked and our relationship took off. It wasn't until March 1, 1998 that we decided we were compatible and got married. Just wanted to make sure everything was going smoothly before we both took that huge step. We were truck drivers when that day came. Got a load going to Las Vegas and we stopped at the Flying J truck stop on Cheyenne Ave. Took a taxi downtown and got married, and it was back to the truck stop. From the day we first met, I noticed a few things about him that didn't seem right, like ...

The Mad VA Cocktail

There is one thing the VA likes to do is to make sure our Nations Veterans are drugged up with as many medications as possible. Only masking the problem and not fixing it or finding a cure. Many Veterans end up even more sick from the side effects from these drugs. Some veterans overdose, some commit suicide because they are either too over medicated or the side effects of these drugs. I have noticed over the years that the VA has no problem writing prescriptions instead of working on the source of the problem. I call these doctors “Pill Pushers”. Travis’ last VA doctor worked hard to wean him off all these drugs, and Travis also fought to stop taking so many everyday. He was down to only 3 drugs before he died. Below is the list of drugs Travis has taken since he started going to the Bakersfield VA Clinic and then from the Phoenix VA. CHOLECALCIFEROL (VIT D3) 1,000UNIT TAB FUROSEMIDE 40MG TAB SPIRONOLACTONE 25MG TAB MIDODRINE HCL 5MG TAB ASPIRIN 81MG EC TAB INSULIN,GL...

Travis S. Owen - Disease and Illnesses

This is a active list of what Travis had over the years. First started with Diabetes Mellitus Type ll. Then everything progressed from there. 8 years after discharge he had a minor stroke, and during our time together he had two heart attacks. On his VA Medical files it shows him having Ischemic Heart Disease,  but it’s also Congestive Heart Failure, which is one on the list of diseases for Agent Orange, Diabetes is another one. Travis had 3 illnesses that are on the list. But even though he had 3 of them, all the others are secondary to the main illnesses and diseases. So in other words the heart disease contributed to the liver failure, etc. When you have one organ that is bad, it basically causes a chain reaction to the other organs, since they all work together in supplying blood. So when one goes bad, they all do. The VA denied his connection to Agent Orange not once, but twice. Now I have hired an attorney to help me fight his case. Here is Travis’ list, 19 of them. Make...

VA...Lie and Deny Till You Die!!

Who would have ever thought that joining the Military would one day either kill you in combat, or you would die later down the road from being exposed to a deadly chemical. This is the story of Travis Steve Owen, Joined the Navy at 18 to serve his country. Never got sent overseas to Vietnam, as many would say he was one of the lucky ones and didn’t have his boots on the ground in combat. So he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI., worked the NTPO which is the Naval Post Office. His CO had him picking up containers of Agent Orange from storage at Schofield Barracks and bringing them back to his post and loading these containers onto ships heading over to either Vietnam or Guam. He wasn’t sprayed with AO like the majority of the guys, he was drenched in it. He got out of the Navy the hard way, got busted with about 12 other guys who were going off base and smoking pot. One of the guys who was smoking pot with them, turned them all in. Travis got off with a General Discharge but un...
